About Course

Biblical Origins of Dance introduces students to the biblical foundation of dance as an expression of worship, praise, celebration, and ministry. Through Scripture-based study, students will examine the role of movement and dance within the biblical record and begin developing an understanding of liturgical dance as a ministry practice.

This course is part of The Word In Motion Level I Liturgical Dance Certification Program and is designed to establish the biblical foundation upon which the remaining Level I courses are built.

Students will be expected to complete the required lessons, readings, activities, and assessments before receiving credit for this course toward Level I certification.

Course Content

Module 1: Biblical Foundations of Dance
This module introduces the biblical origins and foundations of dance. Students will examine Scripture and the historical biblical record to understand how movement and dance have been used as expressions of worship, praise, celebration, thanksgiving, victory, and ministry.
